The Festival of Turning the Wheel of Dharma, Chokhor Duchen, one of the four great holy days of the Tibetan calendar, takes place this year on Thursday July 27th. Chokhor Duchen commemorates the anniversary upon which Shakyamuni Buddha turned the Wheel of Dharma for the first time at Sarnath by teaching on the Four Noble Truths.
Chokhor Duchen is also the day on which FPMT celebrates the presence of the Sangha with our 2017 International Sangha Day. It is a very special time to reflect on the value of having the monastic community among us, the service they give and the inspiration they provide.
On Wheel-Turning Day, when the merit of one’s virtuous activities are multiplied 100 million times, we ask you to consider supporting the IMI community so that the IMI Sangha may have the conditions necessary to continue in their role of preserving the lineage of Buddha’s teachings. The monks and nuns will be dedicating their practice to our sponsors and to all sentient beings.
Also find advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche about practices one can do on Chokhor Duchen here!
With love and prayers on behalf of all the IMI monks and nuns,
