A delegation from the University of Pisa invited by the Dalai Lama to the Emory-Tibet Symposium

The mission was carried out as part of the scientific cooperation agreement with the Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa

As part of the scientific cooperation agreement between the University of Pisa and the Istituto Lama Tsong Khapa, a delegation of faculty from the University was invited by the Dalai Lama to follow the work of the Emory-Tibet Symposium held in Mundgod, India, December 18th to 20th. The symposium was attended by international experts in disciplines that relate to the science of the mind, such as philosophy, psychology, biology and neuroscience.

On this occasion the Dalai Lama wanted to personally meet with professors, Angelo Gemignani and Bruno Neri, members along with Alfonso Maurizio Iacono of the Scientific Committee who chairs the convention, to discuss the development and continuation of the initiatives already undertaken under the agreements. First of all the Masters course of the University of Pisa in “Neuroscience, mindfulness and contemplative practices” which is already working with some distinguished scholars from the ILTK. Another topic of conversation was the organization in Pisa, in 2017, of an international multidisciplinary conference, on the main issues related to the study of the mind, which will have the Dalai Lama as guest of honor.
